Grandvillard – Le Bu – Lessoc

  • Distance : 4,2 km Walking time : 1h15
  • Altitudes : lowest point 777 m ; highest point 864 m
  • Elevation - loss in meter : gain 164 m ; loss 131 m

The route leaves Grandvillard, crossing Marais stream just below the waterfall and cave, and returns to the forest where the valley floor stands in contrast to the plains north of Grandvillard. Leaving the forest, you arrive in Bu. 200 meters above sits Notre Dame du Roc, a little chapel built in 1684. The route crosses pastures then returns to the paved road just before Lessoc. At the village entrance stands Saint-Martin church, built in 1627. Be sure to stop and look at the particularly interesting wooden barrel vault. In the middle of the village, a 1796 fountain is also worth a visit. Its bulbous dome covering was built in 1809, a gift from a cheese merchant living in Lyon, but originally from Lessoc.
